Trick Trick Holds Down The Motor City With A Little Help From Eminem
12/03/2006 23:02
Ask any hip hop fan who currently runs the city of Detroit, musically, and you’re bound to settle for two, maybe three, legitimate responses. Eminem, since the turn of this millennium, would be the clear-cut favorite due to his grandiose national exposure and razor-sharp delivery. A few may respond that another artist is holding the Midwestern city down, such as Royce the 5’9”. However, a new face is being prepped to take hold of the reigns and he is not asking for permission. Trick Trick is the name. As a sole independent artist, Trick Trick has reportedly managed to sell around two million records through hand-to-hand sales and consignment deals. And it doesn’t stop there. He has received help from Mr. Marshall Mathers himself for Tricky’s upcoming record. The lead single, “Welcome 2 Detroit”, set to hit airwaves and online formats very soon, depicts the Motor City’s urbanism from a genuine perspective, and utilizes Eminem’s distinctive voice and flow on the hook. Trick Trick is wasting little time to actualize his dreams. He has established ties and connections with other game players, such as producers Denon Porter, Jazze Pha, and Mississippi’s lone David Banner. Meanwhile, the rougher side of him has shown that he’s no studio gangster. The infamous Trick Daddy beatdown at a Detroit venue, over the rap pseudonym, and some issues with D-Block member, Styles P, has also brought his name to some attention, regardless of one’s stance. Trick Trick is currently playing the waiting game to see who will press up his upcoming record, “The People vs…”, which will be available at an undetermined date. Source: SoundSlam
